Free connection from street to meter

1. ‘Free connection’ applies to existing build homes in networks owned by Australian Gas Networks (AGN) and where a suitable gas main runs directly past the property. You can use this postcode list as a quick guide, however, you should get in contact with our Customer Service Team on 1300 001 001 (Option 2) to confirm your address is within AGN's footprint and a suitable gas main is available to you. 'Free connection' does not apply if there are non-standard costs to your connection (see Point 4 below).

2. Includes all labour, materials and pipework for a standard connection (subject to property conditions) to an established residential home from the gas main in the street up to and including the installation of the gas meter. This side of the connection is called the ‘inlet service’ or ‘service line’.

3. AGN’s ‘Free Connection’ offer does not cover the cost of the outlet service or appliance installation. The ‘outlet service’ (or 'consumer pipework') is the pipework running from the gas meter to appliance. Organising the outlet connection (and the costs of the outlet) is the responsibility of the homeowner. 

4. If there are non-standard costs to your connection, AGN (through our network operator, APA Group) or your energy retailer will advise you of those additional costs, before your connection proceeds. Examples of non-standard costs include: traffic management, mains extensions, hire of specialised machinery.
