Terms and Conditions
The following Terms and Conditions apply tot his offer and must be met in full, to be eligible for payment.
1. This offer applies specifically to existing homes (established builds) that connect to the gas distribution owned by Australian Gas Networks (AGN). In Queensland, AGN's natural gas network is north of the Brisbane River (use this postcode list to check eligibility). Some postcodes are only partially owned by AGN, so address eligibility should be confirmed with AGN's Customer Service Team on 1300 001 001 (Option 3). New builds are excluded from this offer. Transportable or demountable homes are classified as 'new build properties' and are not eligible for this offer.
2. The hot water appliance must be fuelled only by natural gas to qualify for the $500 hot water cashback rate. Gas-boosted solar hot water systems qualify only for a $250 cashback rate (unless the appliance is replacing a dedicated natural gas hot water system; this would be classed as a downgrade and no cashback will be payable).
3. Cashback is only payable for new installations (or for conversions of LPG appliances to natural gas), not a replacement of a previous natural gas appliance of the same general type. This means replacing a natural gas storage hot water system with a natural gas instantaneous hot water system (or vice versa) is still classified as a replacement and no cashback is payable.
4. No cashback is payable if a dedicated natural gas hot water system is replaced with a gas-boosted solar hot water system (downgrade installation). However, a $500 cashback is available when a gas-boosted solar hot water system is upgraded to a dedicated natural gas hot water system, provided this is the main hot water system for the property (otherwise, only a $100 cashback applies).
5. Limit 1 x $500 hot water cashback payable per metered property, for the first natural gas system installed on site (limits apply across AGN's previous campaigns). Additional natural gas hot water units will qualify for a $100 cashback instead.
6. To qualify for this cashback: appliance must be purchased no later than the end of the 2023 Natural Gas Cashback Period (1 January 2023 to 31 December 2023; offer extended). Eligible purchases will then have a Grace Period until 29 February 2024 to complete installation and lodge a claim for payment. No rebate will be paid to appliance installations outside of the current promotion period, unless the installation meets the Grace Period T&C of the 2022 Natural Gas Cashback Period.
7. At a minimum, a claim lodged for this offer must include a Gas System Compliance Certificate and sufficient documentation to support the supply and installation of the relevant natural gas appliance/s (more details in the 'How to claim' section below). AGN will determine whether a claim meets all the set criteria for payment, which includes verifying that the gas connection is complete and checking gas consumption.
How to Claim
It's easy to claim. Once the appliance installation is complete, use our cashback website to lodge a claim directly with us (AGN). To submit a successful cashback claim, you'll need to provide the following:
1. A copy of the Gas System Compliance Certificate.
2. An installer's invoice (e.g. from your chosen gasfitter) to cover the supply and installation of the appliance OR a proof of purchase for the appliance (e.g. purchase receipt) and an installer's invoice - in cases where you have bought your appliance independently of your installer.
3. Your gas meter number or 'Meter Installation Registration Number' (MIRN).
Approved claims will be paid as a cashback deposited direct to the nominated bank account (EFT transfer).
